Where can I get a DEXA scan in Los Angeles?

DexaFit Los Angeles offers DEXA body composition scans at 2772 Artesia Blvd, Suite 106, Redondo Beach, CA 90278, serving the South Bay and greater Los Angeles County. A DEXA scan reads fat, lean muscle, visceral fat, and bone density region by region, with results the same visit.

What is the most accurate way to measure body fat?

A DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) scan is the clinical reference method for body composition, measured to about 98 percent accuracy, or plus or minus 2 percent. Smart scales and handheld devices can be 8 to 15 percent off because they estimate from electrical signals. DexaFit Los Angeles in Redondo Beach uses a clinical-grade DEXA protocol.

What are the benefits of a VO2 Max test?

VO2 Max is your body's peak rate of oxygen use and the strongest single predictor of how long you stay healthy. In a study of 122,007 people (Mandsager et al., JAMA 2018), the least fit had a roughly 5 times higher risk of death than the most fit. DexaFit Los Angeles measures your true VO2 Max so training targets a real number, not a wrist estimate.

How is resting metabolic rate (RMR) measured?

RMR is measured with indirect calorimetry: you breathe into a device that reads oxygen use and carbon dioxide output to calculate the calories your body burns at rest. Calculator estimates can be 20 to 30 percent off. DexaFit Los Angeles measures your RMR directly so nutrition runs on your real number.

How much does a DEXA scan cost in Los Angeles?

At DexaFit Los Angeles, a DEXA body composition scan is $99 as a grand-opening special (regular $120). A VO2 Max test is $170 and an RMR test is $130, with savings when you combine two or three tests in one visit. The location is in Redondo Beach, serving the South Bay and Los Angeles County.
